Firewall may not be a wall anymore

According to New Windows attack can kill firewall, this may be the greatest threat to our computers. That is to say, we lost in the battle and we cannot rely on those experts who succeeded to charge us only.

We may not know whether this is the problem of the firewall or the Windows XP, but we must know that we have to do something to avoid being hurt again with this new threat.

Someone had asked me what was the best way to avoid virus. I suggested having a single computer for online purpose without any data and without links to other computers. If anything happened, just to clear this computer and re-install the Windows. It seems that we have to go this way in the coming future.

It may be the time to say "no expert can save you, unless you take care of your PC"

If you have read "Is the Botnet Battle Already Lost? ", you may have to check many things with your PC.

The price of going online is to learn the new way for safety. Some years ago, I did not think that I needed Firewall besides anti-virus.

It happened about one month ago when my PC was infected by a virus made in China. May be it is not virus; may be it is not a single one too. But the infection traveled to all PCs and notebooks through the Intranet. Of course, it took me more than ten days to clear all PCs and notebooks with busy works from formatting to re-installation of Windows. Then I have to get a firewall for the major PC.

With firewall, anti-virus and anti-spy running, I have to adapt to the new slow speed of browsing and all intranet operations. Sometimes, I have to use one PC and two notebooks simultaneously so that I shall not waste my time waiting for any operation.

That is the way to keep safe and perhaps some minutes a day would be better than two weeks' time to save the computers and the risk of losing important data.

I am confident that I can adapt this new way since the same type of change had happened two or three times for the past twenty years.
